Topic: Life insurance is not a plug-in: How do you ensure your client is getting solid insurance advice?
Life insurance can be an important tool in the tax and estate planning tool belt. It enjoys many important and useful tax benefits – tax-free death benefits, tax-exempt growth inside a policy, and when corporately-owned, capital dividend account additions to name a few. It provides the liquidity to fund estate tax liabilities, estate equalization, shareholder agreements, and can help to optimize post-mortem planning. It can be payable to named beneficiaries without passing through the estate of a deceased life insured. These are just some of the situations in which you think you should recommend that your client consider purchasing or reviewing their insurance coverage, but do you know what you don’t know about insurance? How do you know who to refer your client to and whether planning suggestions made to your client by insurance advisors are appropriate? Join Florence Marino and Jonah Mayles for a conversation about what questions you should be asking and how you ensure your client is getting solid insurance advice.
